3 Ways To Overcome Any Difficulty You Face In Life
Did you know that every single situation we encounter is already spelled in the Bible, as well as the solution to overcome the challenge we face?
I always knew this was the case. The Bible says:
“No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation, he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it” 1 Cor 10:13
But it was a surprise when I discovered that, hidden in plain sight, there were keys for every situation in life, specifically in some Bible places. It is a hidden map that, if you follow it, will take you to become more mature and complete this pilgrimage called life victoriously.
Today, I would like to share about the Valley of Baca.
That place is found in Psalm 84: 5-7:
“Blessed are those whose strength is in you,
in whose heart are the highways to Zion. As they go through the Valley of Baca
they make it a place of springs;
the early rain also covers it with pools.
They go from strength to strength;
each one appears before God in Zion.”
Tears and suffering can feel overwhelming, but help is available to those experiencing such hardships. The word “Baca” refers to the act of crying, and this psalm speaks to times when tears seem neverending. There is always hope for overcoming hardship, whether it’s sickness, relationships, or financial struggles causing the suffering.
Some years ago, I encountered a challenging situation at my job. It was tough because we were living on the campus where we were working, so it could involve my family. As I reflected on the situation, I decided to trust God in the matter. As a result, I got supernatural help. In some miraculous ways, the moment I would close the door to be with my family, the problem would stay outside. It was like a package that I could download outside my door. Because we were facing such a complicated situation, we, as a family, became more united. Every night we would play games together. We had a lot of laughter. We didn’t realize it at the moment, but we were creating memories, passing a great example to our children, and becoming stronger. In time, the situation was resolved. When it all ended, we entered into a new season. When I think about those days, I can’t even remember the anguish of the difficulties. All I remember was the joy in my family and how we were supernaturally helped.
Follow the Psalm prescription whenever you are crossing through the Valley of Tears to overcome. Here is the prescription for you:
1) Decide to find your strength in God and not yourself: Every situation may differ. But God’s grace is sufficient for your situation. How do you find your strength in God? It is simple: share your problems with Him. I do it by talking aloud (yes— that is prayer!). I enjoy taking walks or sitting in a quiet natural place and telling God about my problems. I also take time to pause and hear. Sometimes all I hear is nature. Then, I write down my thoughts. And as I write, I find peace, quietness, and direction.
2) Create Springs – These springs are routines that help us overcome our trouble. In my case, the springs were created every night as we spent time together playing games and laughing. It normalized our difficulties and helped us to count our blessings. You will have to be intentional to create Springs that will make sense to you depending on your case but trust that,
3) Recognize God’s grace and allow Him to shower you with special blessings – as you will walk through your Valley of Tears, you will discover that God will give you extra joy and blessings that you would not expect. In my case, those difficulties were the trampoline to changing jobs, and I ended up becoming a Financial Advisor, a job I have wanted to do since I was a teenager and the reason why I studied Economics!
Trust me! You can not become a better person without difficulties. God’s goal is that you will go from strength to strength. You were not designed to stay in the Valley of Baca forever. Don’t die there! Don’t allow that bitterness, sadness, and despair to keep you grounded. A new season is waiting for you if you follow the map!
